The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 烂得无与伦比，啥破机器居然能以上帝视觉展现记忆，并且连没看见或不在场的场景都能显示出来，真是牛了尼玛的比...吴彦祖好歹也是个贩毒老大，居然被黑大妈轻松团灭...
这烂片有个超级大bug
故事BUG太明显，尤其是躺在水箱里搜查记忆，丝毫没有逻辑，不是说不可以幻想，而是要讲点科学再幻想，这要求不高啊！再说故事推进的线索，也太扯淡，一个神秘来去的女人竟然让男主如此执着不离不弃，没有故事基础啊！看来随着尼古拉·凯奇和基努·里弗斯的烂片不断，休·杰克曼也该步后尘了。
真是烂片，休叔人老武功差智商低不说，还TM的跟青春期少男一样发情，搞那么大个科幻场景拍爱情烂片，悬疑部分还是没档次的争夺继承权。
感觉只有恋爱脑，才能写出这种剧本，但叙事的情感张力，盖过了很多不足，表演真实有力真情流露，创作一定要有打动人心的穿透力，而这来自于真实的电化学风暴。
标准的黑色电影，某些画面和对白让人疑惑这电影当初也许只是打算拍成文艺片走电影节路线
7.5/电影前面的慢节奏出乎意料的好看，丽贝卡前期谜一般的人设也很吸引人，可丽贝卡的人物转折太过突兀，而人设反转之后的剧情也十分拉跨
诺兰弟妻子自编自导，拍的很柔情。世界观设定独特结构工整，摄影分镜和配乐太赞啦。丽贝卡歌喉真不错，狼叔旁白有磁性。西部世界老鸨记女加上身材保持良好的彦祖，这选角绝了。
终于不用在金刚狼的记忆里唱Never Enough了。
观看之前没有看任何剧透：果然是女导演，难怪情感方面把握的细腻……
【6.5+】难得又看到这种眩光美学的科幻电影，只不过虽然舞台搭得很精致，但演出甚是老套。狼叔和丽贝卡的cp感更像是在续写《马戏之王》，起点太虚后面怎么浪漫都救不回来。编剧的叙事能力实在有待提高，人物间大段的纯解释性台词高密度出现，无视角色认知储备给故事之外的观众科普世界观，倒不如把一切都丢给画外音解决。阿祖的中文词穿插让人极度尴尬。不过这个半沉没的水世界还挺让人着迷。
台词很诗意又有点哲理，再配上休杰克曼的声音，绝了。但是缺陷是，重复的哲理太多，喧宾夺主的叹息又有点做作。虽然是超前卫高科技时代，美国还是过着九十年代的故事背景，就…很奇怪了，故事是拧着 美国老电影 洛城机密+唐人街的套路。所以是导演想表达，再过上几个世纪，美国还是这样“堕落”无法进步呢，还是编剧过于迷恋90年代的创造套路，与其说是在赛博朋克式里唱支怀旧恋歌，不如说编剧自己沉溺于那个时代回忆里无法自拔…吴彦祖那么会讲英语的一个演员，到了现在还在美国演那种美国人刻板印象里的英语不太好的亚裔龙套角色就挺尴尬的，“poor 龟孙子”这句台词直接把我笑喷了…
阿祖中英混说太好笑了。结尾太太太长了，好无聊。故事一般，偶尔有几个动人的比喻句。烧脸男为什么不让阿祖演！脱离影院冷风再想想，其实很差，漂亮有啥用啊，故事写得不好就怎么讲都不行，男主离事件核心太远了，女主也很远，女导演居然还能把爱情拍得这么重要，要我来怎么也是Nick五十年下海一次结果May人没了，奇耻大辱Nick立刻准备报仇这样。回忆设定也不好，这个tank在男主手里拍不出信息差，一点tension也冇。看完很不爽：你们干嘛呢？
以为是个烧脑科幻片结果是个中年爱情片 以及彦祖说英语的时候为什么要夹杂中文词 太好笑了
什么鬼故事，女主搞这么多就是为了一份回忆，去搞狼叔？有线索来做过回忆为什么还要牺牲这么大设局？没有别的渠道了？如果这份回忆是男财阀的还好说，这什么鬼？
啃不动啊啃不动。概念不清晰 。看着看着就走神。
4.3 诺氏家族都很喜欢呼唤爱，这堆不表达懂爱的人组成一个家庭也是很神奇了
