The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 女主角和其他的村民第一次进富丽堂皇的法庭的时候，他们睁大眼睛四处看的样子真实得让人心疼。作为一部电影我想给它五星，可是看到现实里的女主原型25年来依然住在那栋破屋里我就下不去手了。豆瓣的印度高分电影结局总是美得像童话，可是有现实做比对的时候，这份美丽很伤人。
故事确实不错，各种有背后深意的镜头语言，要是歌舞再少点就更好了
警察在监狱里虐待犯人看得挺难受的，真实度很高。音乐起得太多太没创意，这些印度片已经套路化了，这样的电影看过太多了，最后的神奇收尾也让我丝毫没有了爽感，大部分似曾相识的情节也逐渐将我的观影乐趣消耗殆尽。
人物塑造和台词上都太满了，显得浅白，叙事节奏和角度还不错，一环扣一环，但是突然爆出的BGM还是让人不适应
想起很多年前的印度电影《流浪者》，这也是一部与偷窃有关的影片，演员表演太棒了，尤其是扮演部落男女的演员。整个故事环环相扣，悬念丛生，一直到最后结尾都能吊住观众的心。影片立意高远，同情弱者，揭露司法黑暗，彰显正义的力量。

对于印度底层民众，这部片子在十年、二十年、甚至百年后仍会有影响力。
穿过层层乌云，终究看见一丝希望の曙光杰伊·比姆，值得被永远铭记的一个名字！
将近三个小时，有些冗长了。电影本身拍的也就那样吧，分数有些虚高，印度底层贱民遭受种姓制度的荼毒之苦。只是敢于把家底里那些糟粕的社会顽疾一股脑的呈现给世人，就这一点勇气来讲，还是很值得肯定的。
这电影得分略低，我特意打了个一星去看了下意见一致的朋友们说了些什么，还真是稍微让我有些错愕。这跟韩版辩护人实际没有毛线关系哈，都不是一个立意和思维方式。看完这个电影，能让你知道人在没有社会秩序的维护下能做到有多恶。庆幸社会一直在进步，庆幸都在改变吧，这个时代全世界都变了很多，美国70年代也是各种恐怖如斯……暴力机构一点真的暴力对象搞错了，那还是很吓人的。印度的种姓制度还真是顽强呀，如此矛盾对立的国家，还真是社会学的一个奇迹。一边是部落的落后，一边是高清镜头带来的工业和科技的先进性，实在让人无法理解。看看我们之前的讽刺电影之导演技术，远远不能和这个相比。去过印度的人可能都可以感受到这种无处不在的难以理解吧。
卖惨片，依旧对印片反感，平面化人物，特色是坏人必暴力，但大家都诚实，多好的法治环境，然后硬插入特色歌曲（这次没舞蹈），不知所谓。
就……幸好它是以爽片的形式拍的。难以相信现代社会还有因为相信某个人群是神身上的泥灰所以低等恶劣的国家，也难以相信这样的国家可以拍这种电影。不过距离电影里故事的发生过去这么多年了，事情好像也并没什么起色

类似于划分种姓造成的各种人权问题永远无法完全解决，能有人站出来帮助平衡就不错了。生命比金钱重要，名声比挨揍重要这些道理，有时候却是光脚的人更明白。
